WELCOME TO JOY BRIDY POTTERY I'M MOVING! Better than that, I'm setting up my own studio outside of Shepherdstown, WV.....the far edge of the Washington DC Metro area. This means my last Home Pottery Sale in the District, plus lots of exciting happenings for the fall, including classes out of my own studio. Keep your eyes here to follow all of the newness. Meanwhile, you're cordially invited to my Home Pottery Sale August 9, 1-5pm. Click here for info.....hope to see you here. The gallery pages also has an extensive listing of specific pots for sale, and if you're not in the area, I'm happy to send your favorites through the postal service. To catch you up on the earlier half of a busy summer, I've just returned from Jack Troy's Summer Komuri Anagama firing, complete with returning faces, fresh berries and watermelon, and a trip to the Amish Market in Belleville, PA. Watch for new images in the wood-fire section coming soon..... Kevin Crowe's Community of Fire group firing in southern Virginia was a wonderful networking experience and a solid firing. With a strong mix of well-seasoned stokers, early-career energetics, and friends and family, the week of firing was intensely social, with a good dose of swimming in the river. The image above is of the group preparing split bamboo filled with a soda mixture to stoke into the salt chamber......more can be seen by visiting the link on my Wood Fired Kilns page. CURRENT SHOWS: The best place to see my work this month is at my home before or during my Home Pottery Sale. Special appointments encouraged! September will be my next month with the Scope Gallery at the Torpedo Factory, Old Town Alexandria, VA. Meanwhile, the cooperative gallery is always changine, so stop in to see what is new. If you happen to be in rural central Pennsylvania, The Log Cabin Gallery in Huntingdon, PA, is an excellent place to see and purchase some of my work. They have no website, but you can visit Thursdays-Saturdays, 10am-6pm, or by appointment. Call 814.641.0371 for more info. The Log Cabin Gallery has many PA-made arts, including blacksmith work made by the owners and pottery from Jack Troy and some of his artistic offspring. WEBSITE INTRODUCTION AND UPDATES: The Gallery & Pots For Sale page offers a general glimpse of my work, as well as a more detailed opportunity to see variations on forms. All pots are for sale, unless marked otherwise, and GIFT CERTIFICATES are available. To purchase pots, please give me a call or e-mail. Keep clicking around, and you'll find my Bio page and a Contact page, as well. Plus the links page will make quick reference for anyone wanting to explore other places, people, or techniques. If you will be visiting DC from out of town, give me a ring and stop by. There's plenty to see here this time of year......and there's always coffee and mugs at hand, perfect for walking and catching up with old friends and new acquaintances. Are you good at packing boxes? I look forward to hearing from you. Joy Bridy |
