My newest favorites, earth bowls are inspired by seed pods and other forms in nature. Wood firing is the perfect match for these bowls, as the ridges are individually highlighted by ash and flame. Each turn of the bowl shows a different detail of wood firing. The tools I use to make the texture on the outer part of the bowl are made from recycled disposables from my favorite coffee shops. The flame was kind to this bowl, depositing the perfect amount of ash inside for a varigated natural glaze, and highlights that change with each turn of the bowl. |

With ridges horizontal as well as vertical, this bowl is also shino glazed inside. The white marks on the rim are wadding marks, which are echoed on the base, as well. |
