These larger lidded jars are some of my favorite pieces to fire in wood kilns. Their bodies pick up on suble shifts in flame pattern and ash flow, and they are useful for everything from coffee and tea to spare change.....you get the idea. The honey jars (photo credit to Carly McKellop, age 6) do exactly what they're made for...hold honey and sugar. There is a cut-out tab in the rim for a spoon or honey stir, and while simple, they stand proud in their sweetness. Raw clay outside, glazed inside. |
